Gearbox announced today the demo for will be available on June 3, 2011. That means First Access Club members will get a chance to once again take control of Duke and shoot lots of aliens with weird weapons. If you're not sure what the First Access Club is, .

According to Gearbox president Randy Pitchford, Duke Nukem Forever is in certification for all platforms, which basically means it's pretty much done. The release date of June 14th in North America still holds.

After over 10 years of waiting, are you excited to check out the demo? Or would you rather play the full game? Do you still care?

It took 15 years, but development for is finished. and today confirmed the game has "gone gold," signaling its completed development.

"Duke Nukem Forever and its journey to store shelves is legendary," said George Broussard, creative director at 3D Realms. "It's an epic tale of four game development studios that banded together and did the unthinkable and shipped the unshippable. When you play this game you will be reminded of that epic journey at every turn and in every small detail of the game."

Duke Nukem Forever is set to launch on June 10 Internationally and June 14 in North America for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Pre-ordering the game or purchasing the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition will grant players into the demo for all platforms on June 3.

"Duke Nukem Forever is the game that was once thought to be unshippable, and yet here we are, on the precipice of history," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "Today marks an amazing day in the annals of gaming lore, the day where the legend of Duke Nukem Forever is finally complete and it takes that final step towards becoming a reality."

Retailer GameStop said it will honor older pre-orders for , even ones that were placed over a decade ago.

"With a long-anticipated release like Duke Nukem Forever, we encourage customers who pre-ordered more than a year ago to verify their reservation with their local store prior to launch," the company said in a statement. "Provided the customer has a receipt, we will honor even those pre-orders taken long ago."

Patience Pays Off

GameStop said it expects that all pre-order customers will receive Duke's Big Package, the game's special edition, at time of purchase, regardless of when the reservation was made. Developer recently announced the completed.

Duke Nukem Forever releases on June 14 in North America.
