![]() News of the MF Doom and Ghostface Killah joint project broke nearly five years ago, but the project will finally see the light of day. Nature Sounds has released the “super-limited collectible” cassette of DOOMSTARKS’ “Victory Laps” (Madvillainz Remix) as well as a Serato picture disc, available for purchase on the label’s site. The track can be previewed here. The transparent tape, which comes in a red casing a la Raekwon’s infamous purple tape, features the sole track “Victory Laps,” produced by DOOM and Madlib. Additionally, a DOOMSTARKS Serato 12-inch picture disc of the “Victory Laps” remix is available for sale for the digital DJ sect. The LP features full color graphics on both sides of the vinyl, and contains the original “Victory Laps,” the Madvillainz remix and instrumentals for both versions.

Ghostface Killah has worked together with MF DOOM over the past few years, most recently releasing a limited edition "Victory Laps" cassette single as a prelude to their DOOMSTARKS LP. Speaking with Much Music, Tony Starks said that the album is still in the works despite broken promises of impending release, and that he's waiting to connect with the metal-faced villain.
"As far as the album, we did a lot of songs. He got a lot of songs for me. I’m still waiting for him to send me more songs," he said. "I tell him the people want the album. Everywhere I go, they want it. But the ball’s in his corner. I’m just waiting on him, because I’ve been pressing the issue. But he said, we gon’ get together, whatever the case may be. But it’s going to happen, because we got a lot of records." He also recalled meeting DOOM for the first time. While on tour with Linkin Park and Snoop Dogg as part of the Projekt Revolution tour, the Wu-Tang Clan member came upon a beat CD from Metal Fingers and went on a hunt to find him. "You know, everybody give me CDs, I play ‘em. But I just said I didn’t know who Metal Fingers was. But I knew he had beats on there that was up my alley, so I had my manager just look and we just hunt, hunt, hunt. And we found him, and it was MF DOOM," he said. "And we got connected, he came through the studio and from right there, we started building. He was a good dude, smart dude. We came from the same school, same cloth. So it was easy to be connected like that. So he did some beats on Fishscale for me, and everything’s just been history."

While in Amsterdam for the Canibus Cup, Ghostface updated fans on the status of his album with DOOM, stating that the currently untitled project will be coming soon and that the duo is currently in the process of weeding their way through various tracks.
“Me and MF DOOM we got a project coming. I don’t know the name all the way yet, but you know it’s a Ghostface/Doom project,” Ghostface explained. “But yeah, we out here right now trying to put together the songs, the beats. To see which tracks we gonna finish using. We already got a bunch of stuff anyway. We just testing out the tracks. We’ll listen to him. We ain’t get to listen to them yet. He just flew in today.” Ghostface further commented on the project’s delay, but revealed that “everything happens in God’s time” and encouraged fans to prepare themselves for the album’s release. “I know ya’ll been wanting that shit for the longest,” said Ghostface. “Since we did and shit. It’s right now. It been time, but everything happens in God’s time. You know what I mean? So we gon’ rock this for ya’ll. We gonna keep it moving. So y'all just stay tuned and prepare for it. Buckle your seat and let’s go, let’s get busy.” No other specifics on the album, including a release date, were revealed during Ghostface’s interview.
