Default Lil' Wayne Set To Play Jesus In T-Pain's "Freakniks"

Multi-platinum selling artist Lil' Wayne is pairing up with T-Pain for "Freakniks", an impending cartoon special set to air on Adult Swim. Weezy will be playing the role of Jesus Christ and is rumored to be featured in a parody music video titled "Ghetto Commandments."

"Basically it was a Black Spring Break that went down in Atlanta and got shut down back in '98 or '99. So the show is going to resurrect that, and it's going to be starring T-Pain and Lil' Wayne and all these other artists like David Banner and some other dudes," said Adult Swim creative director Jake Escobedo about the show. "It's all drawn, and T-Pain plays the ghost of spring break, the Spirit of Freaknik. He brings this party back to Atlanta and the artists have done all this music for it, and it's amazing," he added.

Outside of playing the ghost of spring break, T-Pain is working on his fourth studio album, Revolver.

"Freaknik" is set to air on March 21.

After initial reports suggested rapper Lil Wayne would be playing the role of Jesus Christ in T-Pain's upcoming Cartoon Network special, television executives have clarified his role.

While Wayne is confirmed to voice a character, he will not be taking on the role of biblical figure Jesus Christ.

TV bosses have laughed off reports Lil Wayne is set to play Jesus Christ in a new animated show, insisting his character simply shares his name with the Son of God. It was recently announced the star would lend his voice to Return of Freaknik, a one-hour special being produced for America's Adult Swim network by fellow rapper T-Pain. A spokesperson for the network explains, "Lil Wayne's character is still evolving. All we can say is that he is named Jesus and not Jesus Christ." (Wonder Wall MSN)

The show is set to debut in March 2010.

T-Pain, Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross have spoken on their involvement in the upcoming' Freaknik: The Musical' cartoon and promised the television project would leave fans satisfied.
According to Rick Ross, he only decided to be a part of the cartoon because of Pain's involvement.
"Make sure you check out that, that 'Freaknik' cartoon," Ross said in a video. "You know if it was for anybody else, I wouldn't have even been a part of a cartoon movie but because it was Pain and he told me we were doing it uncut -- and man, it turned out to be fun. Me, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, the list goes on." (Nappy Boy Online)
Both Snoop and Pain shared their memories of the actual Freaknik club venue.
"Man, I was at the first Freaknik when it first started in the early 90's, when it was poppin'," Snoop said. "Like Freaknik was the thing to do when I was a young rapper, selling CDs and tapes, pushing posters." "My brother was coming back with [sexual] diseases," Pain laughingly added. "That's all I know. Make sure you check out 'Freaknik: The Musical', it's going down only on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, b*tch!" (Nappy Boy Online)
According to Pain, the special has been a dream of his.
"You can't do what you want to do, you can't be as silly as you want to be (and) people won't take you seriously in music,"T-Pain said in an interview. "It was a gift...I always wanted to do a cartoon and I didn't know it would be this good...Some people are going to hate it, some people are going to think it's funny." (ABC News)
The special will feature a variety of celebrities and entertainers.
The cartoon, rated TV-MA, follows students who are looking to resurrect the now-defunct street party, and T-Pain is the "party ghost." It also features Andy Samberg, Lil' Wayne, Bill Hader, Kelis, Snoop Dogg and George Clinton, among others. Lil Wayne voices the character Trap Jesus, who T-Pain describes as having "a Jesus-type aura to him." Samberg portrays a "frat boy" while Kelis plays the role of Tyra Banks, whose television show T-Pain's character appears on. (Seattle PI)
The special airs Sunday, March 7th on Adult Swim.
