Finals MVP , who recently spent three days at a ball camp in Madrid, is making, ahem, news about what he said to a Spanish reporter. The money translation, via : "Q: Is Kobe really the best player in the world? Pierce: I don't think Kobe is the best player. I'm the best player. There's a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don't cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself."

Is this guy INSANE? I know there's a LOT of Boston Fans on here, I know. But nobody in their right mind could agree with this lunatic. You don't even have to be a basketball fan to know that Pierce wasn't even the best basketball player on his team, much less the whole league.

I don't think it's that big of a deal to say. He's just a confident player. It's kinda how every rapper says they're the best rapper alive. I don't think he's the best player in the world (Kobe>>>) but he's still dat nigga

No I looked at it the same exact way as you Memph, like dude is good. I'ma L.A. guy, so I like Pierce, he ain't bad at all. But I mean, he's not even better then Carmelo, or D Wade, much less Kobe or Lebron. He's GOOD. But Kevin Garnett is way better then him.

As for the rap comparison, yes, I agree again, a lot of rappers think they are the best. BUT, as Jay-z once said, 'men lie, women lie, numbers don't'. While that quote is not factually proven, in the NBA, numbers sure as hell do mean a lot. This guy pierce, he's never ever even been remotely close to being a regular season mvp. His stats are barely BARELY at an all-star level. Is he good? YEA, he's in the NBA.

But a person would have to be high to really think that Pierce is anywhere near being the best player in the world.

That's like... Beanie Sigel, or Snoop Dogg saying they're the greatest rapper alive. YES, they are good, maybe even great rappers, but, that would be comical of them to say they are THAT great.

I've watched Pierce every season he's been in the league. Almost have seen all the games he's played. The guy is a really underrated player. When he wants to be, offensively he's great. Good inside and outside game. And defensively he's underated as well. I thought he played very good D this season. I mean look at the people he has to guard. Guarding all these great guards/forwards all while playing good offensive is pretty good. His offensive numbers weren't huge this year scoring wise but thats because you have to sacrifice scoring points for the benefit of the team. When you have KG and Allen on your team, you don't have to go out there and score 25-30 a game. In the end, KG may set the tone defensively for that team, but that offense lives and dies based off of Pierce.
